2021年11月12日Believed to be the most comprehensive Islamic encyclopedia in Malay, Ensiklopedi Hadits 9 Imam is a digital encyclopaedia on the sayings, practices and principles of Islam according to nine schools of thought.
For centuries, scholars have recorded so-called hadits (plural form of hadith) - or accounts of the teachings and deeds attributed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) - in volumes known as "sahih" (authentic) collections, which are said to provide guidance for all generations.
However, these hadits are often in the original Arabic, which many Malays find difficult to comprehend.
"This digital encyclopaedia in Malay will help to widen the accessibility and understanding of hadis," claims Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Jamil Khir Baharom in his speech.
The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) aims to make online content more accessible and searchable by digitising its content into a database. The project is undertaken by Multimedia University (MMU), one of the country’s leading universities.
According to Jamil Khir, the project is unique in the sense that it does not only list authentic hadis, but contextualises them.
"The encyclopaedia also details the different interpretations of each hadis, which was based on the nine accepted schools of thought," he added.
With this encyclopaedia, readers are able to search for specific words or topics related to the subject matter. The tool can be used for research purposes as well as by teachers and students. The database will also be available online through JAKIM’s website.
The 9 schools of thought mentioned in this encyclopaedia are: The encyclopaedia is available in hard copies at JAKIM’s head office in Putrajaya. It will be available online within a year.
